Our Scottland trip! Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile

View from the plane...You can't get enough of it! Beautiful!

 Edinburgh Castle!

The Royal Mile
This is in front of Edinburgh Castle and is where all the action is going on in the city. Its hundreds of years old and back in the day this is where people would come to get all that they needed for everyday life. I believe that the kings and queens would also walk through here. Lots and lots of awesome history through here and the buildings..OMG just absolutely breath taking! Hundreds of years old! I f you are in need of a kilt too for you man well there is where you probably would want to start..Have ya seen Outlander lately??? Nuff said

Trying to maneuver around on the other side of the road in our pop can car...seriously i didn't know they still made roll down windows..lol

We loved the coffee shops! It was great to sit there with my tea and just watch everyday life going by

Bottom of the Royal Mile. I was so excited to see those red telephone booths! I thought that was a London thing...

We arrived in Edinburgh Scotland the beginning of May for seven days so excited for our first trip to the UK and our first vacation with out any kids in over twelve years! Come to think of it Jeremy and I had never take off this long before just the two of us since we have had our kiddos so it was TIME!
We got in  at about 8:30 in the morning and could not check into our hotel until three so we decided to go scope out Edinburgh and see what all the hoot was about with the Castle and the Royal Mile.
Not realizing yet that jet lag was soon to be hitting us we decide to go to the castle and stand in line for almost two hours for tickets and walk around this massive place! I almost had to get get Jeremy a wheel chair... and for some odd reason I did pretty good the first day! No jet lag is gunna slow this girl down!  And actually the flight was really good its only about ten hours from Colorado if you have a hour layover. Much shorter than we thought!
You really need a whole day there to explore things because it is quiet huge and sits way high up in the city on old lava rock, so you can see it from all over the city. the history there is amazing too so enough time for this is the way to go. Plus you want to stand in line to see the Queen's jewels and learn all about that. Sadly thought you cant take hardly any pictures inside. But this a mostly outside tour. I don't think you can really go inside unless you are going to see the jewels. We got too burned out from our jet lag and had to leave so we did not get to see the whole thing. But we did spend most of the day here. The other thing I wish I had done too is did some more research about the kings and queens because there is so much history that its hard to keep them all straight especially being that it's at least a thousand years old they think....
I don't think that we would want to go back in the beginning of May. It was pretty cold most of the time and raining. I pretty much wore the same thing every day because I was freezin. This was the only day of all sunshine so it was perfect for us to hit the castle since its mostly outside. I would LOVE to go back but next time I would do June when it is warmer. May and June is the best time to go. One of our tour guides said July and August gets so crazy that people that live there will actually leave town to get away from the crazy crowds..
Seems like I had better pictures of the castle but I cant seem to find them darnit. I do have so much more to show ya though! Our hotel was a castle with great history too so Ill blog about that next! We also took a day tour up through the Highlands and to Lochness and much more! So I will return;)
